Your first time setup guide
The new Blink hub is one of our most user-friendly devices. In this video, you will learn how to quickly and easily connect your set-top box and set it up.
In most cases, your hub will be delivered to you fully-preconfigured and the initial setup guide below may not be applicable to you.
You will only need to connect to your WIFI and Google account.
If you have purchased the device as "Standalone" please follow this guide.
Existing customers that purchase this device will receive their device configured.
Getting Started
To use your new Blink hub, you will need a TV with an HDMI port, an internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), and a Google account.
Before configuring your set-top box, connect it to a TV with the HDMI cable provided, and to an electric power supply with the power adapter provided. If you don’t have Wi-Fi, make sure to set up the internet connection with an Ethernet cable.
Now that the blink hub is connected, power on your TV and switch it to the HDMI input. Your hub is now ready for the initial setup.
How do I set up my hub?
Before you start the initial setup of your MAG425A, you need to pair it with its remote. First, press and hold the Home and OK buttons on the remote control. On the TV screen, you will see information about remote control pairing and firmware updates.
Next, you will be asked to select the local interface, as well as the Wi-Fi network to connect to the internet. The set-top box supports both Wi-Fi frequency bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The former (2.4 GHz) offers more coverage than the latter, however, 5 GHz band provides a faster connection.

Your Google account
Next, you need to sign in to your Google account. For that, two authentication methods are available. With the first one, the set-top box will show you a code on the TV screen and direct you to the android.com/setup web page—open it in a browser on your PC, smartphone, or tablet.
Now input the code shown on the TV screen and select the account you want to use on your set-top box. MAG425A will be automatically linked to the account you have chosen.
There is also manual authentication. You will need to enter a login and password for your account with the remote, using the on-screen keyboard.
Once the authentication is complete, you will be prompted to permit the use of your current location. The apps installed on the set-top box need it to fetch more precise data, e.g., about the weather or local time.
Screen size
What sets MAG425A apart from other Android-based set-top boxes is that it allows you to adjust the screen size from the get-go. Not all TVs are fully 4K-capable. Some may trim a part of the frame, that’s why it’s important to be able to set the screen size right at the beginning. To ensure that the information is displayed correctly, you need to match the blue lines in the bottom left and upper right corners to your TV’s screen edges.
